An Assessment Method of Sealing Performance and Stress Intensity Factors at Crack Tip of Subsea Connector Metal Sealing Rings

Subsea connectors are of a critical part for the sealing subsea production systems. The working environment makes cracks initiate easily on connector rings. In order to ensure safety and reliability rings, it is necessary study crack’s influence them. this study, main parameters that may stress intensity factors at crack tip discussed. requirements metal rings were conducted. A finite element model was established obtain maximum equivalent plastic strain crack-free ring. Meanwhile, depths, positions, angles performance in preload operating states simulated through changing XFEM ABAQUS software, as well their tip. research shows although have little effect early stage, increase with depths. Long-term use leads propagation, structure breakage, failure. results some reference value improving practical engineering applications.
